Monte Vista Loses In Hawaii
Little went right for an inexperienced Monte Vista squad that opened its football season Saturday night at Hawaii’s Aloha Stadium against Honolulu Punahou. Punahou emerged with a 28-9 victory.
Monte Vista (0-1) trailed 16-0 before it found the end zone for the first time--in the fourth quarter.
The touchdown came on a freak play after a Punahou safety. Monte Vista’s John Anderson got to the ensuing kick before any Punahou players and ran it 30 yards for a touchdown.
John Acosta later kicked a 42-yard field goal to finish Monte Vista’s scoring.
After that game, Morse and Honolulu Farrington played. The result was not available at press time.
