Quartz Hill, expected to be a power on offense, beat Lompoc, 19-7, in a nonleague game Friday night at Quartz Hill with defense.
Defensive back Doug Ybarra came up with the big play when he intercepted a third-quarter pass and returned it 77 yards for a touchdown to break a 7-7 tie.
Highly touted Quartz Hill quarterback Jake Haro completed only two of six passes for 35 yards and ran for 12 yards in 11 carries. However, he did open the scoring when he reached the end zone on a six-yard bootleg in the second quarter.
Jerome Hunt provided the lone highlight for Lompoc, returning a punt 86 yards down the right sideline to tie the game midway through the second quarter.
