HOOK ‘N’ WIN: Purists don’t like them, but trick plays (C6) are a part of football. . . . In a championship game against Paramount last year, Capistrano Valley was on its own 12-yard line and trailing, 15-14, late in the game. Coach Eric Patton pulled out the hook ‘n’ ladder, above. The quarterback passes downfield. The receiver makes the catch, then turns and laterals to a running back moving at full speed. Capo Valley got a first down en route to a field goal that gave them a 17-15 victory.
