Elaine Horwitch, 58, an internationally known art dealer who at one time had galleries in Santa Fe, N.M., Sedona and Scottsdale, Ariz., and Palm Springs. She was considered one of the country’s strongest proponents of contemporary Southwestern art. She and her husband, Arnold, established their first gallery in Scottsdale in 1973 and the Santa Fe gallery in 1976. They subsequently closed the Sedona and Palm Springs galleries. In 1990 she was named Woman of the Year in New Mexico and this year received the prestigious “Women and Corporations That Have Made a Difference” award from the International Women’s Forum. In Santa Fe on Saturday of heart failure.
