The San Diego County district attorney’s office filed two new charges against Cleophus Prince Jr., who is accused of murdering six women in San Diego in 1990.
Prince, 23, pleaded not guilty Monday to attempted burglary and perjury charges.
Deputy Dist. Atty. Dan Lamborn said the attempted burglary count stems from an incident with a new witness but did not elaborate. The perjury charge involves a false statement Prince is accused of making on a pawnshop slip, he said.
Prince’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 13, 1992, and Monday’s status conference confirmed that it will be conducted by Presiding Judge Patricia Cowett in San Diego Municipal Court.
Prince is charged with killing Tiffany Schultz, 20, on Jan. 12, 1990; Janene Weinhold, 21, on Feb. 16, 1990; Holly Tarr, 18, on April 3, 1990; Elissa Keller, 38, on May 21, 1990; and Pamela, Clark, 42, and her 18-year-old daughter, Amber, on Sept. 13, 1990.
