A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson in a Sunday fire that caused $100,000 damage to a house.
Jeffrey Springsteen, 37, a construction worker, was taken to County Jail in Vista after being released from Scripps Hospital in Escondido, where he was treated for burns he received in a fire that authorities say he set.
Springsteen was recently evicted from the house, a San Diego Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman said.
The fire occurred in the 1100 block of Escondido Avenue in Vista at 3:18 p.m. Sunday, the spokeswoman said. Vada Jacqueline Krueger, who lives in the two-story house, was not at home at the time.
The fire was set in and limited to a bedroom, sheriff arson-explosive investigator Paul Bledsoe said. Other parts of the house had smoke damage.
Springsteen was being held in lieu of $25,000 bail and was to be arraigned today.
