* Alcoa, the world’s largest aluminum producer, reported that its third-quarter earnings dropped 39% because of weak demand for fabricated aluminum and unfavorable currency exchange rates.
Net income totaled $75.9 million, or 88 cents per share, on revenue of $2.5 billion. That compared to net earnings of $125.1 million, or $1.46 per share, on revenue of $2.7 billion in the 1990 third quarter.
