GREAT NECK, N.Y. — A man described by a neighbor as “the nut of the block” was found dead Monday inside a house that he took over here after he killed his father and three neighbors in New York City, police said.
They said Andrew Brooks Jr., 47, apparently shot himself. At his side was a semiautomatic .22-caliber rifle with a sawed-off barrel and a sawed-off stock.
Neighbors said Brooks was known to swing a golf club on the streets, sprawl on lawns and glare menacingly at others. They described him as unwashed and said he sang arias and sold pornographic films.
