Parliamentarians from eight nations are expected to agree on measures to safeguard the sensitive northern European environment this weekend when the first International Parliamentary Conference for the Protection of the Baltic Sea convenes in this German city.
One key measure is a commitment from the former Communist countries bordering the Baltic to rebuild their shattered economies by using only the cleanest, most modern industrial facilities.
