Azusa : Condo Project Rejected
A proposal for a condominium complex of 23 detached units on the east side of the city in the San Gabriel Canyon area has been denied by the City Council.
During a public hearing, several residents spoke against the project at 1750 Azusa & San Gabriel Canyon Road, saying they fear it would increase traffic on the narrow roadway and destroy the rural character of the area.
Upholding an earlier decision by the Planning Commission, the council voted 4 to 0 Monday, with Mayor Eugene F. Moses abstaining, to deny the proposal.
Council members said condominiums would be inconsistent with the area. There are condos on the west side of the road, the area to the east has homes, many with horse stables, on large lots.
