SANTA ANA — Police on Thursday were investigating the death of a man who walked into a hospital Wednesday night suffering from a gunshot wound, and died in the emergency room without explaining what happened.
Santa Ana police received a call from Western Medical Center-Santa Ana at 7:40 p.m. Wednesday reporting that a shooting victim had showed up for medical aid, police spokeswoman Maureen Haacker said.
By the time officers arrived, Rogelio Flores Romero, 33, of Santa Ana, had died, she said.
Police were still investigating how Romero got to the hospital. “We don’t know if this guy staggered in or exactly how he got inside the hospital,” Haacker said.
