Partnership: The Gaslamp Quarter Theatre Company has received $100,000 from a major developer as part of an unusual reciprocal agreement through which the theater will attempt to help spur the donor’s sales in a downtown condominium project, theater officials announced Thursday. According to Steve Bevans, managing director of the Gaslamp, the Gaslamp will put together a series of receptions and provide tickets to a play for potential buyers of luxury condominiums under construction at Stark Companies International’s One Harbor Drive. The grant was announced on the last day of the Gaslamp’s fund-raising drive, which raised $170,000 of a one-to-one matching challenge grant goal of up to $240,000 promised by an anonymous consortium of past and present Gaslamp trustees. Half the money will go to reduction of the company’s $800,000 debt and half to operating costs.
