Padres, Angels Open in Yuma

The Padres will open their 28-game spring training season March 6 with a four-game series against the Angels at Desert Sun Stadium in Yuma, Ariz.
The Padres will play a 13-game schedule in Yuma against seven teams. Eight of the games will be against the Angels, and five will be played against the Chicago Cubs and Seattle Mariners. The March 20 game against Seattle and March 26 game against Cleveland will begin at 7:05 p.m. All other games begin at 1:05.
Fifteen of the Padre games will be on the road, including two in Las Vegas against Seattle on April 3-4.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Jennifer Lofftus had 19 kills and Andrea Bruns had 15 to lead visiting University of San Diego over St. Mary’s, 10-15, 15-8, 15-13, 9-15, 15-10, in a West Coast Conference match.
Nikki Wallace added 12 kills for USD (5-4). St. Mary’s is 1-7.
