Thousand Oaks Tournament to Make Return
The Thousand Oaks High baseball tournament will return from a one-year hiatus in April and organizers hope to again include 16 teams.
The tournament was temporarily cancelled last spring when the Conejo Valley Unified School District, of which Thousand Oaks High is a member, scheduled spring break at a time that was incompatible with the breaks of many other schools.
Tournament chairwoman Eileen Meinhold said that Agoura, Channel Islands, Lompoc, Montclair Prep, Santa Paula, San Marcos, Ventura, Thousand Oaks and Newark (Calif.) already have entered.
The double-elimination tournament will be held April 13-15 at Thousand Oaks, Westlake and Agoura highs. Montclair Prep, the two-time defending Southern Section 1-A Division champion, won the tournament in 1990.
Meinhold said the tournament always has included 16 schools and that teams are being sought to round out the field.
