PREP FOOTBALL ROUNDUP : McCowan, Turner Run Magnolia Past Anaheim

Butter McCowan and Darrell Turner combined for 286 yards rushing and four touchdowns to lead Magnolia to a 28-8 Orange League victory over Anaheim at Handel Stadium.
McCowan, a junior running back who finished with 178 yards in 33 attempts, opened the scoring with a nine-yard run in the first quarter to cap a 15-play, 88-yard drive. He carried the ball 11 times for 64 yards on the drive.
McCowan added a one yard run in the fourth quarter.
Magnolia (2-6, 1-2) ran effectively throughout the game, alternating between McCowan and Turner, the Sentinel quarterback. Turner’s 12-yard run with 11 minutes 27 seconds to play in the first half gave Magnolia a 15-0 lead. He finished with 108 yards in 18 carries and added a four-yard scoring run in the third quarter.
After a Magnolia fumble at midfield midway through the second quarter, Anaheim (2-6, 0-3) scored its only touchdown on a nine-yard run by Che Garcia.
