Westminster Rolls Over Ocean View, 27-14

WESTMINSTER — Lance Lee’s recovery of a fumbled punt led to the touchdown that helped Westminster High defeat Ocean View, 27-14, in a Sunset League football game Friday night at Westminster High.
With 37 seconds left in the third quarter, Westminster (3-5, 2-3) punted to Ocean View (1-7, 0-4). The Seahawks fumbled the return and Lee recovered at the Ocean View 30-yard line. Six plays later, Christian Moore scored from the three to give the Lions a 20-7 lead.
Moore gained 88 of Westminster’s 280 yards rushing in 15 carries. Matt Bailey, who scored Westminster’s first touchdown on a one-yard run with 1:47 left in first quarter, had 86 yards in 14 carries.
Ocean View’s Dan Holly recovered Robert Besanson’s fumble at the Westminster 29 with 7:07 left in the third quarter. Four plays later, Peter Ohm, who also had an interception, scored from the 18 with 4:37 to play, cutting Westminster’s lead to seven, 14-7.
Late in the fourth quarter, Ocean View began a drive at its own 20. Quarterback Albert Fanoga (6 of 10 for 97 yards) then completed a 51-yarder to Jamal Hills to set up Fanoga’s 13-yard touchdown pass to John Messick.
