COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : OCC Wins, Takes Conference Lead in Soccer

Orange Coast College defeated Irvine Valley, 2-0, to take over first place in an Orange Empire Conference men’s soccer game Friday at Irvine Valley.
The Pirates (8-4-7, 5-1-3) got a goal from Darin Courter 16 minutes into the game to take a 2-0 lead. Ken Langworthy made three saves for OCC.
An Irvine Valley defender kicked the ball into his own net about 14 minutes into the game. Irvine Valley is 12-3-2, 6-3.
In other Orange Empire Conference men’s soccer games:
Rancho Santiago 3, Cypress 0--Justin Zayas scored two goals in the second half for visiting Rancho Santiago (9-3-1, 5-3).
Fullerton 2, Golden West 1--Henry Crompton and Horacito Vilte scored for host Fullerton (10-5-3, 5-4).
In Orange Empire Conference women’s soccer:
Cypress 2, Long Beach 0--Laurie Wilson scored two goals in the second half for host Cypress (8-2-2, 5-2-2). Wilson had 16 goals this season.
In the Orange Empire Conference water polo tournament:
Orange Coast 15, Cypress 14--Robert Worthing scored five goals as Orange Coast advanced to today’s 12:30 championship match against Grossmont with the victory. Grossmont had defeated Rancho Santiago, 16-5, in the other semifinal.
In the South Coast Conference water polo tournament:
Golden West 16, Fullerton 9--Golden West (26-1) moved into tonight’s 8 p.m. final against Long Beach at Belmont Plaza.
