COUNTYWIDE : Walkathon Aimed at Benefiting CHOC
- Share via
A 5-mile walkathon from Santa Ana to Disneyland will be held Sunday to raise money for Children’s Hospital of Orange County.
Organizers hope the “Disneyland Community Walk” from MainPlace/Santa Ana to Disneyland will raise $300,000 for the hospital this year. They also hope that it becomes an annual fund-raiser for CHOC.
Children’s Hospital relies on donations to help cover millions of dollars in health-care expenses each year that disadvantaged patients can’t afford to pay.
The walk will begin at 8 a.m. at MainPlace, continue past the new hospital at Main Street and La Veta Avenue in Orange, and continue to Disneyland.
Walkers who collect a minimum of $25 in pledges will receive a free T-shirt, and those raising $50 will receive a Disneyland sweat shirt. Participants raising $100 will receive one free admission to the amusement park, and anyone collecting pledges of $1,000 or more will be eligible for a five-day vacation for four.
The event is sponsored by the American Assn. of Critical Care Nurses, the Coca-Cola Co., Disneyland, Ralphs Supermarkets and other companies.
Registration forms are available at all Ralphs supermarkets in the county. For more information, call Children’s Hospital of Orange County at (714) 532-8675.
