Japan’s Contempt for America
So the Japanese have mercifully held up a mirror to us Americans. What a sight! Much worse than we expected. The ugly American is alive and not well. The question is what are we going to do about it? Should we stop buying Sonys and trade in our Hondas and Toyotas for Ford and Chevys, or would it be much wiser to accept the criticism for what it’s worth and work our tails off to try and erase the horrible image we currently project?
We should not accept a Third World image as our true fate. We may not deserve better, but we at least ought to seek a higher plane.
