Summit Health Ltd. of Burbank announced the appointment of Donald J. Amaral as chief executive.
Amaral, who joined Summit Health in October, 1989, as president and chief operating officer, succeeds Don Freeberg.
Freeberg, a founder of Summit, continues as chairman.
Amaral served for three years as president and chief executive of Mediplex Group Inc., an Avon Products subsidiary.
Summit owns and manages hospitals, long-term care and retirement centers and medical service operations.
