Air Traffic Is Still Flat: The major airlines reported sluggish traffic in October, showing that the slump that took hold in late 1990 has not abated. The largest carrier, American Airlines, reported an 0.8% fall in U.S. traffic--the first year-to-year decline in seven months. Another big carrier, United Airlines, had a meager 0.1% gain in domestic traffic.
