West Covina : Dairy Arsonist Sentenced
A Los Angeles man has been sentenced to a year in County Jail and three years probation for firebombing a West Covina drive-through dairy Sept. 3.
In pronouncing sentence Oct. 30, Pomona Superior Court Judge Robert Dukes also ordered Francisco Rodriguez, 19, to pay $10,000 in restitution. Rodriguez pleaded guilty last month to one count of arson.
Rockview Dairy, a family-owned business on East Vine Avenue, was firebombed July 9, resulting in $100,000 damage. Two more bombings, on Aug. 8 and Sept. 3, caused minor damage.
Police arrested Rodriguez in the September incident after a witness wrote down his car’s license plate number. Rodriguez told police that three gang members hired him to help burn the dairy. No other arrests have been made.
