THOUSAND OAKS : Bus Fare to Drop for Christmas Holidays
- Share via
The Thousand Oaks City Council, in an attempt to get riders to board city buses, unanimously decided Tuesday to reduce bus fares from 75 cents to 25 cents during the Christmas holidays.
By offering lower fares, officials hope to ease parking problems at the Oaks and Janss malls, where traffic congestion is the greatest.
On weekdays, buses will run until 8 p.m. except for Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, when service will end at 6:30 p.m.
On three weekends, Dec. 14-15, 21-22 and 28-29, buses will run from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. No buses will run Christmas or New Year’s Day.
Normally, buses run from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. only during the week.
The extra service will cost the city about $1,750, said Roy Myers, a city engineer who coordinates the Thousand Oaks Transit system.
