From Staff and Wire Reports
Carl Eichenlaub’s 45-foot Cadenza from San Diego Yacht Club led the eight smaller boats off the starting line for the Long Beach-to-Cabo San Lucas race in a light six-knot wind.
Don Smith’s 40-foot blue Falcon from Oklahoma City was close behind. The 15 larger boats, among them Mike Campbell’s new Andrews 70 Victoria in its maiden race, will start at noon today inside the outer harbor, within 200 yards of the Belmont Pier.
