The NFL is exploring the possibility of instituting a uniform voluntary AIDS testing and education program after the disclosure by Laker star Magic Johnson that he tested positive for HIV.
Commissioner Paul Tagliabue talked several times last week with NBA Commissioner David Stern about the subject.
Tagliabue also wrote Gene Upshaw, executive director of the NFL Players Assn., saying he hoped to begin discussions on a non-mandatory program.
