TUSTIN — Two cars collided in a busy intersection Sunday afternoon, injuring five people, including one who was trapped in the wreckage and had to be pried out, fire officials said.
Authorities had few details about the crash or the victims late Sunday.
Three people were taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, two of them classified as trauma patients and another suffering mild injuries, county Fire Department officials said. Two other victims, also considered trauma patients, were taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana.
The victims were riding in cars that collided at the corner of Jamboree Road and Irvine Boulevard about 4:10 p.m., Tustin Police Sgt. Mike Pettifer said.
County fire officials used a hydraulic prying device to free the victim who was trapped in the wreckage.
