Hughes to Cut 100 Jobs: Hughes Aircraft Co. said it will eliminate 100 jobs at its Electron Dynamics Division in Torrance, the result of a restructuring and reductions in defense spending. The firm said 70 salaried employees have been notified that their jobs are being eliminated and 30 hourly jobs will be cut in January, the Los Angeles company said. The division, which considered moving out of Torrance last year but decided to stay, has 1,280 employees.
