MILWAUKEE — The Green Bay Packers finally found another patsy.
The Packers, whose last three victories, dating to last season, were all over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, held on Sunday for a 14-10 victory over the Indianapolis Colts.
“It helps,” said Green Bay safety Mark Murphy, who made a third-down sack of the Colts’ Jeff George with 55 seconds left. “A win is a win.
“We felt if George held the ball at all, we were going to get to him. It seemed to work real well. It was a called play, and we ran with it.”
The Colts (1-11) had one last chance. On fourth down, George, who completed 21 of 40 passes for 184 yards, was hit by Roland Mitchell and threw incomplete.
Green Bay (3-9) won for the third time in the last 17 games.
The Packers ran for 164 yards against the NFL’s worst rushing defense. That included quarterback Mike Tomczak’s 48-yard run that set up his two-yard sneak with 9:08 left in the third quarter and put Green Bay ahead, 14-3.
George fumbled away center Brian Baldinger’s snap at the Green Bay 21 early in the fourth quarter but came back to throw a six-yard touchdown pass to Bill Brooks with 4:46 left.
