HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL SOUTHERN SECTION PLAYOFFS

Canoga Park Faith Baptist 52, Hesperia Christian 24--Senior running back Alex Estrada scored six touchdowns to lead Faith Baptist (10-0) to the Southern Section Eight-Man Large Division championship.

Estrada scored on runs of one and 22 yards, pass receptions of 26 and 36 yards, a 72-yard punt return and a 61-yard interception return. Four of Estrada’s touchdowns came in the first half as the Contenders built a 40-0 lead, scoring on all five possessions.

Visiting Hesperia Christian (8-4) could manage only 30 yards and two first downs in the first half, crossing midfield only once. The Patriots avoided the 45-point rule that would have ended the game before regulation time had expired by stopping Faith Baptist on fourth and two in Hesperia territory to begin the second half.
