Goldstine to Attend UCSB

Westlake High’s Lauren Goldstine puts pressure on opposing defenses with her scoring ability, but she took pressure off herself by signing a letter of intent to play women’s basketball next season at UC Santa Barbara.
UCSB Coach Mark French called Goldstine, a 6-foot small forward, one of the Gauchos’ most-prized recruits of any year. She is one of four players signed during the early period. French ranked this recruiting class as the best he has had in his five seasons, with Goldstine as the cornerstone of the quartet.
Goldstine averaged 17 points and 13.8 rebounds a game in leading Westlake to a 20-7 record last season. She was selected one of the top 50 players in the state by Cal-Hi Sports magazine this season and was named to that publication’s five-player preseason Division II all-state squad.
