The World Boxing Assn. vacated the middleweight title held by Mike McCallum of Jamaica because the fighter violated association rules.
The WBA called on the two top challengers, Steve Collins and Reggie Johnson, to fight for the title.
McCallum was told by WBA officials that he must fight Collins this month for the title, before he had any other match. However, McCallum has agreed to fight James Toney, the IBF middle weight champion, on Dec. 13.
