The City Council unanimously selected former Mayor Pro Tem Jay Kim to be mayor Tuesday and named reelected Councilwoman Phyllis Papen as mayor pro tem.
Kim succeeds John Forbing, who resumed his position as a councilman.
Newly elected Councilman Gary Miller was sworn in Tuesday, replacing Donald Nardella, who was defeated in his Nov. 5 reelection bid.
Papen will not be sworn in until the council’s next meeting, Dec. 17. She missed the meeting Tuesday because of the death of her mother.
The council also voted unanimously to replace resigned Planning Commissioner Grace Lynn with Bruce Flamenbaum, who said he will vacate his position on the General Plan Advisory Committee. Lynn submitted her resignation Nov. 19.
