Quarterback Stais Boseman scored three touchdowns and intercepted two passes to lead Inglewood Morningside to a 21-14 victory over previously unbeaten Atascadero in a Southern Section Division VII semifinal Saturday night at Coleman Field in Inglewood.
Atascadero (12-1) played without starting quarterback Ryan Hawkins and starting wide receiver Kenny McMurray, who were injured in a car accident on their way to meet the team bus leaving for the game.
Boseman scored on a 60-yard run after recovering Louis Cappl’s fumble to tie the score, 14-14, with 8:44 left in the game. On Atascadero’s next possession, Boseman intercepted Justin Smith’s pass at midfield and returned it 10 yards. Eight plays later he scored on a one-yard keeper to give Morningside (10-2) a 21-14 lead with 3:52 left.
Boseman ended Atascadero’s final threat with his second interception with 1:30 remaining. Boseman, a junior, was on every play, including special teams.
Boseman completed nine of 13 passes for 108 yards and one touchdown and rushed for 60 yards on 16 carries.
