COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : OCC Men Gain Another State Soccer Title

Orange Coast College won its second State men’s soccer title in three years with a 3-1 victory over Irvine Valley in the championship match Saturday afternoon at El Camino College.
Ali Mossadeghi, Lance Barker and Brian Slayback scored in a 23-minute span in the middle of the first half. Darin Courter had an assist on each goal for OCC.
It was the third time OCC had defeated Irvine Valley this season. The Pirates (15-4) also won both Orange Empire Conference matches.
Brad Wilson scored in the second half for Irvine Valley.
In the third-place game at the Golden West men’s basketball tournament:
Golden West 77, Cypress 71--Behind Greg Evans and Eric Thomas, Golden West (5-5) overcame a 52-37 deficit with 15:35 to play. Evans, who was named to the all-tournament team, scored all 21 of his points in the final 22 minutes.
