A man was shot and killed inside a Wilshire Boulevard nightspot just north of Koreatown after an argument with another man, apparently over a woman, police said today.
The shooting at the Red Onion, 3550 Wilshire Blvd., occurred about 11:45 p.m. Sunday, said Lt. Jeff Bertrand of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Wilshire station.
The relatively crowded restaurant closed for business following the fatal confrontation, Bertrand said.
The 23-year-old victim, whose name was withheld pending notification of relatives, died at the scene, Detective Felicia Brown said.
“There was a verbal dispute that escalated,” Brown said. A detective at the scene said the two men apparently argued over a woman.
The suspect was described as a black man, 25 to 30 years of age, about 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighing about 175 to 185 pounds.
