The Balboa Cinema, which on Dec. 1 closed as an art house featuring foreign and other specialty films (and midnight weekend showings of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”), has reopened under new management as a mainstream theater, currently showing “Exposure” with Peter Coyote. The building’s owners hinted last month that major renovations were planned and could not be reached Wednesday to say whether the switch to mainstream movies is permanent.
