Long Beach Women Upset N.C. State

Trise Jackson equaled her career high with 28 points Monday night to lead 25th-ranked Cal State Long Beach to a 92-80 victory over No. 10 North Carolina State.
Marsheela Harriston had 16 points and Kellie Bennett and Bolivia Gaytan each added 15 for the 49ers (5-1). Kari Parriott had 12 points, 11 rebounds and six assists for Long Beach.
Rhonda Mapp led North Carolina State (5-2) with 29 points and 10 rebounds. Tammy Gibson added 21 points for the Wolfpack.
The victory was the fifth in a row for Long Beach, which trailed 10-0 after 3 1/2 minutes.
The 49ers blew the game open by scoring 15 consecutive points to turn a 59-55 deficit into a 70-59 lead with 7:41 remaining.
N.C. State wasn’t closer than nine points after that.
