BLUFFTON, S.C. — A twin-engine plane crashed Thursday in a wooded area of eastern South Carolina, killing all five people aboard, an official said.
The Beechcraft airplane was traveling from Rowan County, N.C., to Hilton Head when it crashed about 12 miles northwest of Hilton Head, said Mary Ann Cassano, spokeswoman for the Federal Aviation Administration in Atlanta. She said the cause of the crash and the names of the plane’s occupants were not immediately known.
Officials at the scene said hunters in the area saw the plane go down and then led rescue crews to it.
