American Airlines to Cut 1,250 Jobs: The carrier will eliminate 1,250 baggage handlers, ticket agents and other ground crew jobs early next year as part of a cost-cutting move. Positions will be eliminated nationwide, including American’s Southern California operations, a company spokesman said. American said the reductions will be made primarily through layoffs or employee transfers.
