NOW KNOX: Former Seattle Seahawks coach Chuck Knox may be on the brink of returning to the Rams (C1). . . . Knox will soon interview with another team, but he apparently has replaced Buddy Ryan as the Rams’ leading candidate. The combative Ryan has come under attack from other football executives, although his critics don’t seem to include his former boss in Chicago, Bears’ coach Mike Ditka. Ditka now says: “The Rams haven’t been a tough, hard-nosed football team for a lot of years, and they certainly would be a tough, hard-nosed football team with Buddy coaching.”
