Alex Ben Block, a veteran entertainment industry journalist, on Monday was named executive editor of the daily edition of the Hollywood Reporter.
Block, 45, had been executive editor of the trade paper’s special issues sections since joining the Reporter in 1990. He replaces Teri Ritzer, who left the Reporter in the fall to become vice president of publicity at 20th Century Fox International, the studio’s overseas theatrical sales unit.
As executive editor, Block will be in charge of daily editorial operations and will report to Robert J. Dowling, the Reporter’s publisher and editor-in-chief. Block said he plans no dramatic changes in the paper, which he called a “very solid organization.”
