California IN BRIEF : LA JOLLA : Mother Teresa Out of Intensive Care

Mother Teresa was moved out of intensive care and into a private hospital room Wednesday to continue her recovery from pneumonia and a heart condition, hospital officials said. The 81-year-old nun remained in fair condition at Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation, hospital officials said. Mother Teresa, who won the Nobel Peace Prize for her work with India’s poor, may be discharged in five to 10 days, hospital spokeswoman Sue Pondrom said. She was hospitalized Dec. 26 with bacterial pneumonia.
