A Big Match: Savanna’s wrestling team, ranked No. 2 in Orange County, plays host to Shawnee High of Oklahoma at 7 p.m. next Thursday.
Shawnee is the three-time Oklahoma 4-A champion, and in its last county appearance in 1988, it won the competitive Five Counties tournament by a staggering 100 points.
Savanna, which won the Southern Section 3-A championship last season, is led by Brad Belanger at 145 pounds and heavyweight Willie Green.
Slowed by a back injury suffered during football season, Belanger won the individual title at last Saturday’s Montclair tournament and was named the outstanding wrestler in lower weights in his season debut.
