TENNIS ROUNDUP : Forget, Wheaton Reach Semifinals

Defending champion Guy Forget of France defeated Aaron Krickstein, 6-1, 6-4, Thursday to advance to the semifinals of the New South Wales Open at Sydney, Australia.
Forget, seeded third, will face eighth-seeded David Wheaton, who rallied to defeat Jakob Hlasek of Switzerland, 3-6, 6-1, 7-5.
The other semifinal today will match No. 7 Emilio Sanchez of Spain, a 6-3, 6-3 winner over Thomas Muster of Austria, against either Christian Bergstrom of Sweden or Omar Camporese of Italy.
The top four seeded women--Gabriela Sabatini, Arantxa Sanchez Vicario, Jana Novotna and Mary Joe Fernandez--advanced to the quarterfinals.
Pete Sampras survived a match point and defeated an angry John McEnroe, 6-7 (4-7), 7-6 (7-4), 6-3, in a round-robin tournament at Adelaide, Australia.
McEnroe had several confrontations with chair umpire Steve Foreman in the second set.
In another match, Goran Ivanisevic defeated Michael Chang, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.
