‘Fantasia’s’ Fantastic: In its limited 50-day-only release, Walt Disney’s “Fantasia” sold a record-breaking 14,169,148 videocassettes in North America. That number does not include record-breaking laser disc sales of 225,000 units, nor any direct mail or club sales. “Fantasia’s” final day of sales through Walt Disney Home Video was Monday, and the film as it currently exists has been retired forever. A new “Fantasia Continued” is due in 1997, fulfilling Walt Disney’s personal dream that “Fantasia” be a living piece of work.
