Bullets in 2 Killings Linked, Police Say

Bullets removed from the brains of two shooting victims dumped 2 1/2 miles apart in Mission Hills and Arleta are the same caliber and probably came from the same gun, reinforcing investigators’ belief that the killings are related, Los Angeles police said.
But police firearms experts still have to confirm the bullets’ origins, Lt. Bernard Conine said.
Autopsy results released Friday confirmed that Dawn McGrath, 21, of Mission Hills and Jamie Jensen, 13, of Canoga Park both died of gunshot wounds to the head. Both were discovered shot, critically injured and left for dead early Monday--McGrath in the 10300 block of Woodman Avenue in Mission Hills and Jensen in the 9400 block of Arleta Avenue in Arleta.
The victims, who Conine said knew each other and had mutual friends, died later at Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills.
