Tunes for Marooned: British Prime Minister John Major, who appeared Sunday on the British Broadcasting Corp.’s classic radio program “Desert Island Discs,” chose George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” and the Supremes “The Happening” as among the recordings he would want with him if he were marooned. He also chose Joan Sutherland’s aria from Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor.” The BBC program asks celebrities to envision themselves as castaways and select the eight recordings they’d want to have. With perhaps a nod to the upcoming British elections, Major concluded his set with Frank Sinatra’s “The Best Is Yet to Come.”
