CAMARILLO : Panel Being Formed to Study Park Plan

The Pleasant Valley Recreation and Park District is forming a citizens committee to study the district’s needs and find a way to fund the development of a $4-million park in Camarillo.
The committee, which is expected to have 10 to 15 members, will discuss how to make the 30-acre park and three proposed neighborhood parks a reality, said district General Manager Eldred Lokker.
Components of the $4-million park are outlined in a master plan approved by the Planning Commission last week. Park plans include a community center, a swimming pool, six lighted tennis courts, six softball fields, a group picnic area, volleyball courts, a jogging path, basketball courts and soccer fields, Lokker said.
Heimberger & Hirsch Associates, a consulting firm, developed the plan.
The park would be established on the 10-acre Mission Oaks Park, and extended to 10 adjacent acres and to the Las Colinas Elementary School’s 10 acres of playing fields.
