The Region : Work on Freeway Columns

The California Department of Transportation has begun a project to reinforce freeway support columns on both the Ventura (134) and Glendale (2) freeways in Glendale and Eagle Rock.

Occasionally, lanes will be closed to accommodate the construction work, which will take place mostly between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m., Mondays through Fridays. D. W. Powell Construction of Fontana is the contractor for the $1.5-million project, part of a statewide effort to strengthen roadway structures. Work is expected to be completed early next year.
