For Fans of Statistics, This Was a Big Loss

Every day when I read the sports pages, the first thing I would turn to would be the statistics page to check out the NBA box scores. I always marveled at the person or persons who put “The Day in Sports” page together.

Sometimes I felt like writing to The Times to find out his/her name so I could thank them, because without the statistics page, the others stories weren’t as interesting.
